About
Emma Kerry
Welcome to my website and here is a little overview of my background
Currently I live and work in Poringland, which is about 6 miles out of the City of Norwich, I have lived here for 12 years and have run my business from my home for 8 of those years.
I have a therapy room which is situated in a cabin in my garden, which gives a calm and neutral place to work.
I trained to become a counsellor after many years of working in education, working closely with children and their families, during this time I became very interested in looking at how past and present childhood experiences shape us as individuals, how and what we experience then to the impact that we feel now in the present.

I trained as a Psychodynamic counsellor, as this was the approach I was very much interested in. It looks and focuses on unconscious processes that influence present behaviour. This gives you as a client more self-awareness and the understanding of the influence of the past in the present.
Working in this way gaining knowledge about yourself gives you the power and opportunity to bring about change.

How I work- If you so wish, we can then take a solution focused approach to our therapeutic relationship and together we can look at positive changes that can be made to deal with current presenting problems.
We will look at strategies that can be put in place by you to change patterns of behaviour that are currently impacting you, and the world you are living in. The result of which maybe causing problems with unhealthy and destructive behaviours. The hope is while working together we are able to make positive changes that enable you to move forward so that your past doesn't impact your future.

In addtion to this work I have over the past few years worked as part of a trauma team supporting survives of sexual abuse and worked extensively at stabilising after trauma.
This work involves clients gaining strategies and tools to enable them to reconnect and gain control after trauma.
My aim is supporting you during a time when things have become overwhelming and you find yourself unable to manage, or cope with day to day life.
I have completed additional training to enable me to support you when you feel unable to to self regulate and control changes within you.
My main aim is to bring about stability and change in a caring and compassionate way, in a place of safety.
