Emma Kerry

Welcome to my website and here is a little information about me.

I live in Poringland which is about 6 miles out of the City of Norwich, I have lived here for 12 years and have run my business from my home for 8 of those years.

My therapy room is a cabin in my garden, which is a calm and neutral place to work.

I retrained to become a counsellor after many years of working in education. I worked closely with families and during this time I became very interested in looking at how past and present parenting styles and childhood experiences shape us as individuals.

This led to the decision to retain to become a counsellor.

I trained as a Psychodynamic counsellor, this particular counselling approach looks at your internal resources and helps you  explore how reactions to present day circumstances may be a result of past events.

 I am very solution focused so together we will look at positive changes that can be made to deal with current presenting problems.  We will look at strategies that can be put in place by you to change patterns of behaviour that  are currently impacting you,  and the world you are living in. The result of which maybe causing problems with unhealthy and destructive behaviours. The hope is while working together we are able to make positive changes that enable  you to  move forward so that your past doesn't impact your future.

I have over the past few years worked as part of a trauma team supporting survives of sexual abuse and worked extensively at stabilisation after trauma.

This work involved giving clients strategies and tools to enable them to reconnect and gain control after trauma.

My aim is supporting you during a time when things have become overwhelming and you find yourself unable to manage, or cope with day to day life.

 I have completed  additional training to enable me to support clients who feel overwhelmed and at times unable to engage in everyday life.

My main aim is to bring about stability and positive change in a caring and compassionate way, in a place of safety.
